Congradulations to the JV team.

01-14-2012 ~ Jack Reynolds Tournament @ Mercer Island HS

Jack Reynolds was such an icon to the Issaquah wrestling programs and WA state
wrestling.  Those of us that had the opportunity to meet him or like Coach Hyatt who
had him as a Coach, he was such a roll model and mentor.  This was the last high
school tournament for the Issaquah Seniors and they took advantage to excel.

01-11-2012 ~ Alumni Night w/Reception

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the IHS Wrestling program a reception was
hosted by the wrestling team prior to the meet with Woodinville.  The classes from
the 60′s had the most alumni wrestler’s attending.  Pictures from the reception
will be posted shortly, as the photo’s are sent in.  Thank you to Coach Roger Wilson
for attending with his family and all of the Alumni that attended.

Wow, what a meet!!  It came down to the last wrester’s @ 170lb, third period and
a near fall that gave the Issaquah Wrestler {Andrew Ramirez} the major decision.

12-30-2011~Cat Classic Tournament @Eastmont HS in Wenatchee

An exciting time had by all that didn’t have to drive.  9 varsity wrestler’s arrived
Thursday  night after navigating the 1st winter snow storm over Snoqualmie &
Blewett passes.  The  remaining wrestler’s and Coach Hyatt left Issaquah at 4:00am
Saturday and arrived at  Eastmont HS at 6:45am., shortly after the wrestler’s that
had spent the night in Wenatchee.   The tournament began at 7:00am Saturday
with weigh-in and wrestling starting at 9:30am.  The one word to describe the day
was LONG……….
Issaquah placed 10th out of 14 schools.

132 – Almen Thorpe           4th
138 – Jerdon Helgeson       3rd
145 – Joseph Tonnemaker  4th
220 – Matt Solusod            3rd

12-17-2011 ~ Shelton Holiday Tournament

Saturday was an early day, meeting at Issaquah HS @ 5:45am.   GPS failed the lead
car when they drove right past the Shelton exit with all the other cars following.
The team quickly got back on course and arrived at Shelton HS without any further
incident and on time :0)  Out of 11 schools Issaquah took 6th beating Skyline.

Placers:
120 – Louden Ivey    3rd
126 – Max Tickman  2nd
132 – Almen Thorpe 2nd
145 – Joseph Tonnemaker 3rd

 12-10-2011 ~ Battle at The Border

Saturday went by fast.  Unfortunately, we saw many of the boys drop early in some
very hard fought matches.  At the end of the day 2 remained in the championship
round;  Max  Tickman @ 126 finished 6th and Joseph Tonnemaker @ 145 finished 1st.
Issaquah concluded  the tournament placing 10th out of 22 teams.   The last time
Coach Hyatt had a champion at  Battle at the Border was Matt Glenn in 2005.
Matt went on to finish 3rd at state in 2006.

12-09-2011 ~ Battle at The Border

Wow, Battle at the Border saw the Issaquah team battle hard.  10 out of the 11 boys
moved on to  Saturday’s matches with 3 still in the championship rounds;  Max
Tickman @ 126,  Almen Thorpe  @ 138, and Joseph Tonnemaker @ 145.  Issaquah
concluded the day in 8th place out of 22 teams.
